About the role

UC International College at the University of Canterbury

As an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team and working closely alongside the College Director and Principal to achieve the vision and ongoing success of the College, the Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions leads a strong and dynamic team to develop and deliver growth through international student recruitment for the College.

This includes the development of business relationships and identifying opportunities both domestically and internationally via stakeholder engagement, business development, international recruitment, admissions and marketing strategies to achieve agreed enrolment targets.

The person we seek will ideally have the following:

  • Solid business acumen, with leadership experience within the international education sector.
  • Demonstrated approach to the strategic development and maintenance of key stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead and be responsible for the achievement of the College’s student recruitment targets – through effective and profitable recruitment strategies, market research, product development and the development and execution of a marketing plan.
  • Successful track record of sales and a network of contacts within the international education sector.
  • Have a natural ability to be a strong, empathetic and encouraging leader who empowers their team.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and management of strategic/operational planning and budgets to achieve successful, cost-effective outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to create value, develop and deliver executive recommendations and strategies including high quality presentations and documents.
  • Proven ability to apply commercial rigour and business acumen to decision-making.
  • Strong track record in executing sales and marketing campaigns to distinguish the College from competitors and deliver growth.
  • Strategically liaise with, develop and maintain effective relationships with university partners, colleagues in Navitas, education agents and other external clients.
  • Ensure the development of strategy for promotional material, public relations and marketing communications within the overall Group and partner marketing guidelines.
  • Develop and define key target markets in order to drive new business development initiatives.
  • Working alongside the College Director/Principal and Senior Leadership Team to ensure effective overall management of the College/Campus.
  • Closely monitor, evaluate and report on recruitment effectiveness; work closely with your team and Navitas colleagues to ensure campaign deliverables are accurately executed.
  • Appraise existing sales performance data and coordinate marketing and sales efforts to achieve maximum outcomes and full use of resources at all levels.
  • Prepare, and where appropriate, present reports on expenditure and student recruitment matters for the College’s university partner and Navitas committees, groups, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with the regulatory framework in which student recruitment and admissions operates.
  • Participate in marketing/sales activities onshore and offshore and represent the College, as appropriate.
  • Prepare and manage financial aspects of student recruitment and associated education agent monitoring and reports.

The person we seek will ideally have the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Successful track record of sales and a network of contacts within the international education sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and management of strategic/operational planning, reporting, and budgets to achieve successful, cost-effective outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to create value, develop and deliver executive recommendations and strategies including high quality presentations and documents.
  • Proven ability to apply commercial rigour and business acumen to decision-making.
  • Strong track record in executing conversion and retention strategies through a CRM and lead management automation tools.
  • Proven ability to represent the organisation effectively and professionally in wide range of contexts.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively within a matrix structure, with focus on collaborating with and influencing various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a team both as leader and member to inspire team members to explore and engage in all avenues of marketing and student recruitment.
  • Analytical mind with good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to be flexible with working hours to incorporate multiple time zones and undertake domestic and international travel as needed.
